THE BALLET STUDIO SENIOR DANCERS . . .

Courtney Anthes | Senior Dancer

I began dancing at The Ballet Studio when I was 5 years old. My favorite style of dance would have to be lyrical/contemporary, I love the way it expresses a story. One of my fondest memories at the studio is competing with Mary Did You Know, and winning first place overall. Also, being with my friends at the studio and learning new styles of dance over the years. There are a few things that I am looking forward to in my senior year, one is being with my friends before going off to college, but also pushing myself so I can be the best I have ever been. I am planning on going to a school like Cabrini or Monmouth for Elementary Education and hopefully also getting a degree in Special Education. Dance has been a blessing in my life, not only has it brought new friends into my life, but it has also been a way for me to express myself. I LOVE dance, and I honestly do not know where I would be without it. I hope to continue dancing in the future, and I would like to thank all the wonderful teachers at the studio who have helped me develop into the dancer I am today, and also for listening and being there for my family throughout the years.

I began dancing at The Ballet Studio when I was five years old. Dance has always been an important part of my life, but in the most recent years I have really realized how much of a passion I have for dance. My two favorite styles of dance are Jazz and Lyrical. I enjoy Jazz because I can show my energy and really perform on stage. I also love Lyrical because I am able to express myself and my emotions. I only have fond memories of The Ballet Studio. My dance teachers and friends have become a significant part of my life and people I will never forget. The friendships that have been endured and kept over the years is probably my most treasured memory. The teachers that have inspired me and taught me to be the best dancer and person I can be are also truly a blessing. I'm hoping that my final year at the studio will be a fantastic one. I will push myself harder than ever to become the best dancer I can be, and show the girls younger than me what it really means to be a dancer, and enjoying what you love to do. I am pretty sure that I want to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln next year. I am going to school to become a veterinarian. Dance has meant everything to me in my life. It has helped me to forget the bad days, and taught me to express myself and be the person I'm meant to be. I plan to keep dance in my life forever, because my life wouldn't be the same without it. I just want to thank all of the dance teachers I have had over the years and the friends I have made for making these past twelve years of my dance life the best they ever could have been. I LOVE YOU ALL!

Kaleen Butterfield | Senior Dancer

I began dancing at the Ballet Studio when I was three years old. My first teachers were Ms. Lisa and Ms. Sherri. I have participated in the studio’s competition team since 7th grade. My favorite style of dance is Lyrical because of its graceful movements and allows me to express my feelings and emotions through dance. Dance has become an important focus and passion in my life. After losing most of last year due to a knee injury, I realized how much I missed dancing and performing on stage. It was amazing to dance in the production of Lady Gaga in the recital, and I hope to make my senior year a memorable one. I look forward to this year even though it will be my last year at the Ballet Studio. I love dancing in the recitals and also competitions, and exploring new dance forms. I have many friends who I have been dancing with since the very beginning and I know our senior dance will be emotional. I hope to attend Rider University or Kutztown University and major in Elementary Education and continue dancing on my school’s dance team. The Ballet Studio has been a part of my life for 15 years and I am grateful for all the wonderful teachers who have encouraged and inspired me to be the best dancer I can be.

Ashlee Martel | Senior Dancer

Hi, my name is Ashlee Martel. I have been dancing at The Ballet Studio since 1997. I have also been teaching at The Ballet Studio since 2006. My favorite style of dance is most definitely lyrical. It is graceful, beautiful, and shows so much emotion. My fondest memories at the studio have to be the recitals. Seeing the hard work, dedication, and heart that pours out onto the stage in the finished products is always an amazing thing to be a part of! For my senior year I am looking to having a great time dancing, laughing, and making many new memories with my friends. Also, I am looking forward to our senior dance! It is going to be an incredible dance that shows just how special each one of our seniors is. Following my senior year I am hoping to attend one of the extraordinary state colleges in Pennsylvania. I will be majoring in secondary education and history. After college, I plan to become a high school history teacher and of course continue being a dance teacher at The Ballet Studio! Dance has been in my life for many years. It has always been a way to just let go. It has always released the stress from everyday life. Dance has given me a way to express myself without words. It has filled my heart with love and happiness for many years. Dance has brought lifelong friends into my life. Dance is not just something I do in my spare time, it is my life. I have danced for many years and plan to never stop. I cannot imagine my life without dance. I love dance and hope to fill the hearts of my students with the same love. Dance equals life for me. Without dance I would not be the person I am today.

I've been dancing at The Ballet Studio since 2000. My favorite style is lyrical because it helps express how I'm feeling through dance. Looking back at my time at TBS, I have many great memories but the best in particular are the years dancing with the small group on Sundays. We always had fun together and complemented each other well on stage. I am looking forward to being Mufasa this year in The Lion King, as well as making more memories with my friends. I'm planning to major in Business Administration at Champlain College in Vermont or St. Mary's College of California, where I hope to continue my love for dance on their dance team. Dance has given me a way to express myself as well as helping me make life long friends and discovering a passion that has made me who I am today.

Chelsie Peterson | Senior Dancer

I began dancing at the Ballet Studio in 2002. My favorite style of dance has always been contemporary. It is expressive and there is so much room to put your own flare and style into the movements. It is a way to let out your feelings and emotions in a beautiful way for others to admire. My favorite memory of the Ballet Studio is competing in Next Star Nationals with Cats and winning first place division. I am really looking forward to the Lion King this year with all the theatrics because I am really into Broadway and theatrical dance. I am excited for all the African combat-ish dancing we get to do in the stampede number. I will hopefully be attending Grove City College in Pennsylvania next fall and will be majoring in Mechanical Engineering at the new engineering hall. Dance has been my life. It gives me a safe place to go to two nights a week and just leave the world behind and let out all my stress and emotion that comes with my busy schedule. It is a joy to see how much my teachers are interested in things I do in and out of dance and to see other girls who enjoy doing what I love to do with my time. I have fond memories of The Ballet Studio and they will be ones I will keep for the rest of my life.
